Machine Learning for R&D: Data Analysis & Process Intelligence

A two-day practitioner-led program enabling R&D professionals to analyse experimental data, build predictive machine learning models using Python, and translate scientific insights into better process and product development decisions.

This hands-on program equips R&D scientists, engineers and technical professionals with practical machine learning capabilities to improve experimental analysis, product development and process decision-making. Participants learn to transform laboratory, experimental and process data into actionable insights using Python, statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms. The program covers digital transformation in R&D, data preparation, exploratory data analysis, statistical interpretation, regression, classification, clustering, anomaly detection and model validation. Through industry-relevant applications across chemicals, metals, materials, fibres and textiles, participants explore how machine learning can predict material properties, identify influential process parameters, assess quality outcomes and support experimental optimisation. With 70% hands-on learning, participants work with Python, Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib and Scikit-learn to clean datasets, visualise relationships, develop predictive models and interpret results. An integrated R&D case study reinforces the complete workflow, enabling participants to apply data-driven approaches to real-world laboratory and process challenges.
