Press Tool Design, Development and Lifecycle Management

This technical program develops end-to-end capability in press-tool design, development, manufacturing, validation, maintenance and shop-floor troubleshooting. Participants begin with sheet-metal behaviour, press-tool types, press-machine selection and materials before progressing to die-design fundamentals, strip-layout optimisation, clearance calculations and tool-component selection. The program then covers CNC machining, Wire-cut EDM, grinding, heat treatment, assembly, tryout and tool validation. Participants examine common press-shop problems—including burrs, wrinkling, cracking, misalignment, spring-back and tool wear—and apply root-cause-analysis techniques to resolve them. The journey concludes with a real-component application project, an industrial visit and a structured assessment.
