This program strengthens the practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) across product design, manufacturing and inspection. The program begins with a focused review of GD&T symbology, geometric characteristics, feature types and material-condition concepts. It then covers key enhancements introduced in ASME Y14.5-2009, including regular and irregular features of size, actual mating envelopes, independency control, unequal profile tolerance, datum boundary modifiers and movable datum targets. Participants also compare ISO and ASME approaches before applying advanced concepts such as inner and outer boundaries, floating and fixed fastener theory, projected tolerance zones, tangent planes, free-state and restrained-condition measurement, composite position and composite profile. Drawing-based exercises and inspection cases help participants connect design intent with manufacturing feasibility, functional assembly and measurement strategy.
